Choosing between the options
Metal braces are the most predictable and generally the most economical. They handle complex movements well and are the default for most cases, particularly in younger patients.
Ceramic braces work the same way but are less visible, which matters to some adults. Clear aligners are removable and the least visible option, but they only work if they are actually worn for the required hours each day — that is the honest catch.
Which is appropriate depends on what needs correcting. We will tell you if the option you prefer will not achieve the result you want.
Step by step
How the treatment runs
01 — Assessment
Examination, x-rays and a discussion of what is realistically achievable and how long it will take.
02 — Plan and schedule
You get the treatment plan, the expected duration and the appointment rhythm before starting, so you can judge the commitment.
03 — Fitting
Braces are fitted, or your aligner sequence begins. Some tightness for the first days is normal.
04 — Adjustments
Regular appointments to progress the movement. Missing these extends the overall treatment time.
05 — Retainers
Fitted at the end. Teeth drift back without them, so this stage is not optional if you want the result to last.

How long does treatment take?
Commonly somewhere between one and two years, depending on what is being corrected. We give you an expected range at the assessment rather than a promise we cannot keep.
Am I too old for braces?
No. Adult orthodontics is routine. Treatment can take a little longer as an adult, but the outcome is real.
What does it cost?
It depends on the appliance and the complexity. You get the full cost and the payment schedule at the planning stage, with monthly instalments available on longer plans.
Do aligners work as well as braces?
For many cases, yes — provided they are worn as instructed. For complex movements, fixed braces remain more predictable. We will be straight with you about which suits your case.
How often are appointments?
Typically every few weeks for adjustments. The schedule is set out before you begin so you can plan around it.
